Polysorbate 80

Polysorbate 80 is a non-ionic surfactant and emulsifier commonly used in cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and food products. It is derived from sorbitol (a sugar alcohol) and oleic acid (a fatty acid) and is primarily used to improve the texture and stability of formulations. Polysorbate 80 helps to mix ingredients that would otherwise not combine, such as oils and water, and enhances the spreadability and consistency of creams, lotions, and other products.

BENEFITS OF POLYSORBATE 80

1. Emulsifier: Helps to blend oil and water-based ingredients, preventing separation in creams, lotions, and liquid formulations.
2. Solubilizer: Solubilizes essential oils and fragrances, allowing them to be incorporated into water-based products.
3. Improves Stability: Increases the stability of emulsions and prevents the formation of bubbles or air pockets.
4. Enhances Texture: Contributes to the smooth texture and spreadability of cosmetic and personal care products.
5. Non-Irritating: Generally considered safe for use in skin and hair care products, suitable for sensitive skin.
