Description
Hydrogenated rosin esters are derivatives of natural rosin (obtained from pine trees) that have been chemically hydrogenated and esterified to improve stability, color, and odor.
They are widely used as film-formers, tackifiers, and binding agents, especially in cosmetics (lip products), adhesives, and inks. Hydrogenation makes them more resistant to oxidation and discoloration compared to raw rosin
BENEFITS:
- Excellent film-forming properties
- Improved adhesion (tackifier)
- Enhanced gloss and shine
- Oxidation stability (better than natural rosin)
- Good compatibility with oils and waxes
- Water resistance
- Improves product durability (e.g., long-lasting lipsticks)
INCI Name: Pentaerythrityl Hydrogenated Rosinate
CAS Numbers: 64365-17-9
pH: Slightly acidic
Solubility: Insoluble in water and soluble in oils
Country of Origin: Indonesia
Usage Rate: Depends on application:
- Cosmetics (lipsticks, balms): 2% – 15%
- Adhesives: 10% – 50%
- Coatings / inks: 5% – 30%
